So how are you all doing this morning?? Feeling any Cyber Dance Party, um, after-effects? There's a steaming hot cup of coffee for you over there to the left, if you need it. And a little Alka Seltzer over to the right. And some soothing, hangover-friendly music down below, should you choose to avail yourself of it. I found one straggler asleep in the bathtub this morning—she was using the shower curtain as a blanket, and snoozing like a baby—but I packed her into a cab, and now the place is really empty. I had a fabulous time, but I'll confess to being a tad...well, let's call it wobbly....today. Thanks again for coming, everyone!! I'm going right back to bed after I post this.
So one of the tremendously useful things I learned when I was in the corporate world was how to create a magical Excel macro that will choose a random winner for me, and this is how I arrived at the winner of my entire library of books (all four of them! DUKE, THIEF, BATS, and WTBW!) and the pearl and diamond earrings (which, mind you, are significantly smaller than the image in the blog post below, but still quite pretty). So are you ready?? Are you awake? Can you bear the anticipation?? Everyone start a drum roll up please... (but gently!! The throbbing heads, you know)....
And the winner is......
Ruby!!!
Stand up and take a bow, Ruby!! Everyone applaud her...but again, gently. A light patting of the hands will do. Ruby, send me an email with your address (put "Blog Party Winner!" in the subject line, which will help me find you quickly), and I'll send all the swag off to you.
So I hope everyone has a fabulous week, and I hope the dance tunes linger in your head for a few days and the good times linger in your heart. :) I'm going to take a blog break for a day or two, probably, to recover. LOL. So here are some quiet, hangover-friendly tunes, because co-hostess Toni Blake reminded me of the wind-down tunes often played at the end of parties, and it cracked me up thinking about it. There's some Nick Drake and Jeff Buckley, whom I've loved passionately for years, and it's funny how both of these songs keep cropping up on TV on "House" or the "O.C." or Volkswagen commercials. There's the lovely song (named for Psalm 40) U2 used to play at the end of every show as they left the stage, so it has great memories for me. There's Eddie Vedder's version of a Beatles's song, Toni's favorite and one of mine, too, because I couldn't get The Beatles' version. And then one of my current favorite songs by Elbow. All quite, quite soothing. LOL. So long for now, kittens.
Hallelujah (Jeff Buckley, written by Leonard Cohen)
40 (U2)
You've Got To Hide Your Love Away (Eddie Vedder)
Pink Moon (Nick Drake)
Powder Blue (Elbow)
Big congrats Ruby!

Congratulations, Ruby. Enjoy those books.
Actually, for a moment I had to think which name I use here because on some blogs I sign in as Ruby55. Long story as to why.
I had lots of fun but I feel somewhat sluggish today too. Maybe I need to be fed. It's 22:10 EDT and it's getting to be supper time--seeing that I was late getting up.

Does anyone else think it's poetic that RUBY won the PEARLS?? Hee! Perhaps it was destiny. :) Congrats again Ruby!! Hope you girls are recovering nicely from the festivities!! It's always fun to both throw a party and give stuff away!!
