So I'm neck deep in myriad little activities over here in FOG LAND (It's supposed to be Indian summer!!! Where did the sun go?? Remind me again why I'm paying a zillion dollars a month to live in a place that gets about four sunny days per year?), many of them in preparation for the Cyber Dance Party I'll be holding here at The Julie Chronicles on October 2nd and 3rd. LOL. (Well, I'm calling it a Cyber Dance party, because if all goes according to plan, we'll have a soundtrack. Of sorts. Or at the very least, a theme song.)
Anyway, the party is in honor of two very special events in my life: the release of WAYS TO BE WICKED, and one grand bit of news that I haven't formally announced anywhere yet, but I wanted to celebrate it with you guys. :) My buddy Toni Blake will be our guest hostess for the event, and I'll be posting the interview she conducted with me, which manages to be both incisive and wildly trivial (ironically enough, two things I manage to be most of the time). Everyone who shows up here to ask me a question (any question at all!! Try me!) will get a party favor in the form of a signed bookmark, and I'll be giving away a special Grand Prize, too—jewelry might even be involved. Hope you can come!! I'll send a newsletter out this weekend to remind you.
Also, to help spread the word about WTBW, a variety of lovely blogettes have been kind enough to volunteer to post excerpts on their own blogs (and I'm sending these babes signed copies of BATS and other goodies as a thank you!). All these blogs are just as unique as their hostesses, so I thought you might like to take a peek at them and perhaps get to know a few of your fellow readers a little better. And as for this particular excerpt...we've got that first kiss...in its entirety. :) (There's a taste of it on this blog, but this is the WHOLE scene, and it steams up quite a bit there at the end.)
So far, you can read it at:
Kathy's Anything Goes Blog
Melissa Jones Lawson
Amanda Jean Kelly
Kristian Mercer
We have a few more excerpt hostesses queued up, too, and I might pass on a different excerpt to those folks, just to keep things interesting. :). And if you're interested in putting an excerpt on your blog, send me a note! There's a signed copy of BATS in it for you. :)
Off I go to finish some work! I'm listening to an online Oldies radio station right now, and hilariously, that song by Eric Burden—you know, "Warm San Francisco Nights"?—was just on. Just to clarify: there IS no such thing as a warm San Francisco night. Though Global Warming might of course one day change all that, and Eric Burden might finally stop sounding like a fool. Hope you guys are having pretty good weeks!!
Your Cyber Dance Party soulds like fun!

OH MY GOSH!!! I'm just so excited. Romantically Inclined will be making it's excerpt post on Sat., which I'm really excited about. But as for the hush hush news...I can't wait to find out what it is. You are so bad for not telling us. BTW, should I now mention I don't like secrets? Me, the one who has a few I won't even share with my fellow RI Ladies haha.
Anyhow congrats on the release woohoo..I so love this book, a certain scene to be sure hehe. All I can say is poor Daisy.

Julie, can't wait for the Cyber Dance party. I'm mourning the disappearance of warm weather, too. I've had to wear my wool jacket the last couple times I've gone out. :(

Awesome,Julie! I've out of touch, my computer has been acting up. I'll email you over the next two days about posting your excerpt at my personal blog.

I can't wait!

Hey gang, as Julie said, I came up with some FABULOUS interview questions for her (if I do say so myself ; ) ) so you won't want to miss them : )
As for my hostessing duties, I do have some stuff out of the house I must attend to on both days, but will definitely try not to shirk my duties.
Oh, and I got a sneak peek at the soundtrack. It's WAY awesome : ) You will be dancing in your chairs : )

Great, kittens, glad you can all come to the party!! And seriously—just mention a song here in the comments, and I'll try get it on our playlist! LOL. Later today, I'll post some quickie instructions on how you can hear our soundtrack. :)
Has anyone noticed that the Typepad comments counter is a little screwy? There are eight comments here now, and my counter says there are only five....hmmm....I tell you, Typepad likes to keep things interesting!

How about "Vacation" by The Go-Go's? If I listen to it, maybe I can pretend it's actually warm here in SF instead of freakin' freezing cold. Brrr.

Haven and Isabel—cool, and thanks, re the excerpt!! Can't wait to see it on RI and your blogs :)!! And Haven...Monday's Blog Party contest prize was inspired by one of those scenes with Daisy. :)
And Diana...I added your song. :) It's the second Go-Go's song in there (I had to put my own favorite in there, too.)
