Here's our Cyber Dance Party Pre-Flight Checklist:
First, check your hips: do they move? Try doing...oh, say, a figure 8 with them. How does that feel? Ok, next—how about your arms? Can you wave them about, fling them up in the air, maybe? Good, good. Now, let's test the shoulders. Try a shimmy. First a slow one...OK, great. Now, really shake it. You're a blender!! Your shoulders are a blur! That's it! All right....aaaand stop.
OK, how did that go? Everything more or less working? Fabulous! If any of your parts are recalcitrant, chair dancing (the sitting kind!) is encouraged. I plan to alternate dancing on the floor and in my chair for the duration of the event.
Now, the truly adventurous might want to practice The Pony, which might come in handy on a few songs. Please don't jar anything loose while you're practicing, however. If you hear any rattling or crunching sounds and you suspect they might be emanating from your cartilage, consider stopping. As I said, chair dancing is perfectly acceptable.
Now, here are a couple of little things you can do right now to make listening to our songs quicker and easier come Monday:
1) Go to Napster now and register if you're not a registered user yet. It's free, safe, lega, really easy and only takes a second—there are only a couple of fields on this page (look on the right half of the page). Just enter a user name and password of your choice, along with your email address, which they won't use if you click the box telling them not to send you things. And you don't have to install anything!
2) Make sure you have pop-up windows enabled just on the Napster site. You can turn 'em off again later.
3) Come back on Monday, October 2nd, to join in the merriment. :)
I'll give instructions again on Monday, too! Meanwhile, have a wonderful weekend, kittens!
